The Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Victims in Israel

The Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Victims in Israel began its operations in 1994, with the support of the Center Organizations of Holocaust Survivors in Israel, and with the collaboration of the Claims Conference. This nonprofit serves as the leading foundation that offers assistance to holocaust survivors in Israel, and it was established with the goal of extending aid to those who did survive the horrors of the holocaust yet remained in need, and were never truly rehabilitated. Currently, there are more than 250,000 holocaust survivors living in Israel, 45,000 of which are destitute individuals that suffer from medical issues directly related to the holocaust, including physical and psychological challenges which persist in their daily life, affecting their well-being and escalating through the years.

The nonprofit has made it its goal to do all that is in its power to improve the lives of these holocaust survivors in Israel, who require personal and individual assistance, in order to ensure this matter remains present on the public agenda.

Every year, tens of thousands of survivors receive support from the organization in a wide range of fields, including additional welfare and nursing hours, emergency alert button services, repair, adaptation, and accessibilizing of facilities in survivors’ homes, purchasing medical equipment, financial aid for dental care, refund for medical treatments not included in the health basket, eyeglasses, volunteer frameworks for socializing with survivors, and more.

The Ted Arison Family Foundation chose to support The Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Victims in Israel, with a long-term grant of 5 years, from 2014 to 2019, totaling $664,000 for the following projects:

  1. Living in Dignity – Mobile renovation and adaptations in survivors’ homes.
  2. Urgent Support for Holocaust Survivors – Dental care, eyeglasses, and coupons.
  3. Alone but not Lonely – Volunteers visit holocaust survivors every week, on a regular basis. Hundreds of survivors benefit from this support program every year.
